Mirecourt Violin Circa 1920s (OV260416)
This Mirecourt violin is a fine example of the French making tradition, featuring well chosen tonewoods including a highly flamed maple back and fine-grained spruce top. While it lacks a maker’s mark, the superior craftsmanship is evident in its tastefully carved scroll and golden brown two piece back of attractive flame, typical of fine quality late 20th-century workshop instruments.
This particular violin offers a lovely warm and mellow tone with a deep, rounded character that provides a mature and sophisticated voice for the discerning player. There are a few dings here and there, always the sign of an instrument that has been much loved and well played down the years! A really loved instrument to play and perfect for a committed traditional fiddle player.
