Orchard Violins, Ballymoyer

German Violin from the Heiberlein Workshop Circa 1920s (OV260418)

The Heiberlein Workshop was based in Markneukerchen in Germany.  It was a family business established by Heinrich Theodore Heberlein Jr. in the 1860s.  The workshop became renowned for its high-quality workshop instruments which were mostly crafted by skilled assistants under the master's supervision.  Production continued until the 1940s.

This particular example has great resonance and power throughout the four strings.  A nice instrument to play with a warm, sonorous lower register.  It is a very attractive violin, finished in the typical amber/brown varnish common of this violin making region.  It has a well repaired hairline crack to the left of the fingerboard, which is barely visible but is in good structural condition throughout.

The violin is set up with Helicore Strings and Wittner Tailpiece and is a suitable instrument for traditional Irish music or Classical alike.
