A Violin by Collin-Mezin fils 1941 (OV24049)
Length of Back: 362mm
The Collin Mezin Workshops are now internationally recognised as being one of France’s finest from the early 20th Century. Tonewoods used were carefully chosen and violins made here are now in high demand, causing values to continually increase in recent years.
This instrument is a Grand Prix Model with an attractive two piece maple back by Charles Collin-Mezin. The table is of fine spruce with neatly fluted F holes, lovely edging and exquisite double purfling. (There is a repaired table crack on the left side which is stable).
The violin is set up with Eva Pirazzi Strings and a Wittner tailpiece. It plays with good volume and a deep, full tone. The overall response and playability of this instrument is excellent.
A lovely instrument of fine quality, from one of the most reputable French workshops. (Offered at a reduced price).
