Orchard Violins, Ballymoyer

French Violin by Georges Apparut 1928 (OV23055)

Length of back: 353 mm.

This is a fine quality violin made by Georges Apparut (1877) who was the son and pupil of Leon Apparut, From Juraincourt, near Mirecourt France.  He won gold medals for his violin making at Nancy, Brussels, Metz, Gand and Paris as well as obtaining diplomas of honour at other exhibitions.    Several French virtuosi and soloists acknowledged the quality of tone inherent in his instruments, which greatly promoted his reputation throughout the early-mid 20th Century in France, Belgium and America.

This violin is in excellent condition and was made in the style of Guarneri as with most of the Apparut violins; this one is  dated 1928 and numbered 85 and signed on the label.  This is a really lovely instrument, one of his best examples.

Set up with fine quality rosewood fittings including the original gold tipped pegs, Evah Pirazzi strings and supplied in a new lightweight case,

It is finished in a textured amber/red oil varnish and it features a striking one piece deeply flamed maple back.

This is a fine instrument to play with the usual rich responsive Apparut tone.  Sonorous on the lower strings and smooth and sweet on the E string - a real captivating sound for distinguished listeners.

A fine instrument for committed player or violin collector.
